Fun for the whole family. Come join us in Old Town Temecula for some great fun, listen to bands, entertainment & games for the kids.
TEMECULA, CA - As the sun sets in Old Town Temecula the fun heats up for Hot Summer Nights Friday, July 8 through August 26. Opening the series of music and family fun will be the Gem Tones, a three-piece family rock n’ roll band with a mixture of blues, rock and popular cover tunes. What makes this group unique is the age of the players from a 38-year-old father, to the 13-year-old drummer and 15-year-old guitarist. The Gem Tones are an Orange County band that has played the Coach House as well as other popular hot spots, including Hot Summer Nights in 2003. Also performing Friday, July 8 is the duo-turned-trio The 2 of Us+1.
Blues, Classic Rock and R&B tunes will fill the rest of Old Town’s Hot Summer Nights. Bands featured throughout the eight week series will include Aunt Kizzy’z Boyz, Nitro Express – power country, Bayou Brothers with rocking Cajun tunes, Hoodoo Blues, Antonio Pontarelli on his electric fiddle, Trinidad Tobago Steel Drum, and Duchicella pan flute band. If crazy hats and fun family humor are your style, Dynamite Dave will entertain at various locations July 15 through August 26. The Leadership Team of the Temecula Boys and Girls Club will host games for the kids, party jumps, and a variety of activities for the entire family. Children can win prizes at the kid’s midway by pitching pennies, tossing ping-pong balls or playing duck squirt. There is a small fee for the games. The proceeds of the games benefit the Boys and Girls Club. Pony rides and carriage rides are also available every Friday evening.
SATURDAY NIGHT CONCERTS ON MAIN STREET:
A new feature this year is Main Street Saturday Nights, a monthly concert series that will begin Saturday, July 16 with a country western concert featuring The Drew Davis Band and sponsored by Kfrog.
The evening opens with the pure western tunes of Dave Stamey. Stamey has been bucked off and stomped by many horses, stepped on by mules and dragged around branding pens by angry cattle of various sizes. His tunes, some original and some a collection of the best western tunes in history reflect his life on the range and days on a dude ranch. He's been awarded the Male Performer of the Year by the Western Music Association, is a three-time nominee for Songwriter of the Year, and is rapidly becoming one of the most popular Western entertainers working today. He opens the evening at 6:30 p.m. Brian Lynn Jones and the Misfit Cowboys will heat the stage up with their brand of Rock and Tonk Country. A term created by Jones, he describes the sound as a bluesy feel, mandolin strumming, moaning squeezebox and sawing fiddle. He calls their style knee slapping, toe tapping, hand clapping country. They’ll take the stage at 8:30 p.m.
The Drew Davis Band” headlines the evening of country tunes. This band entered the music scene in 2004 with a bang winning the Colgate Country Showdown and captivating an audience of over six million. They have been opening top acts at The Troubadour and House of Blues and were recently named BMI’s “Pick of the Month,” an honor that has not been achieved by any other unsigned band in over two years. While their musical roots are country, the Drew Davis Band appeals to fans of rock and country with a countrified, heel-tapping rock. The Colgate Country Showdown is known for its star discoveries, wielding a $100,000 prize and recording contract. Other Showdown winners who have made it big include Martina McBride, Neal McCoy, John Michael Montgomery, and LeAnn Rimes, as well as the starts for artists like Garth Brooks and Tim McGraw.
Eat at any Old Town Restaurant Friday or Saturday before the concert and receive an armband for reserved seating while supplies last. Concerts will be held on Main Street near the Main Street Bridge.
August 20 will feature bluegrass with The Witcher Brothers, Grateful Dudes, Lampkin Family and Silverado Bluegrass Band. Summer closes out with the blues September 17, featuring Aunt Kizzy’z Boyz and BB Chung King and the Buddhaheads.
Sponsored in part by, the Froggy 92.9 FM and The Country Porch, Hot Summer Nights will continue every Friday night from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. through August 26. Most Saturday Night concerts start between 6 and 7 p.m. and last until 10:30 p.m. All concerts are free.
