MISSION
STATEMENT At Vail Elementary, the education of
each child is our number one priority. Daily instruction focuses on the
California State Content Standards. We’ve set a course to continue to
improve our academic program so students show strong progress.
Parents are considered to be an important part of the school experience.
We want each child to feel happy and safe here.
POSITIVE
LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
In addition to regular classroom
instruction, students also have
the opportunity to be involved in a variety of activities, such as,
music, monthly Awards Assemblies, Curriculum Assemblies (funded by PTA and SIP),
VVTV, Associated Student Body Spirit Days and our yearly Student
Talent Show. Our upper grade students have the opportunity to be
involved in Band, Strings, Chorus, and Student Council.

QUALITY
OF INSTRUCTION
TVUSD aligns its curriculum with state
standards and provides enrichment activities at the site level to support
instruction. The District also holds a philosophy
that each school principal should be the Instructional Leader on that cam-pus.
As such, principals take an active role in the learning process at each
TVUSD school, spending much of their day in the classroom.
TVUSD teachers are evaluated and given areas for improvement by
their principals. To aide in this endeavor, administrators are trained in evaluation
skills. This training is designed to help administrators evaluate their staff in a
manner that will produce better teaching in the classroom and thus enhance
student success. Staff development days enhance this
quest for excellence by giving teachers the tools needed to succeed in an on-going
manner.
Goals for Staff Development:
· Support for Literacy
· English Language Arts materials
· Support for math programs
· New teacher training
· Positive classroom management training
