MISSION
STATEMENT
Vail
Ranch Middle School is located in the southern part of
the Temecula Valley Unified School District. Our
students primarily live in single family homes with two
parents. We have several families where one or both of
the parents are in the military while other families
live in the wine country. Approximately half of our
parents commute to work and the other half have a
stay-at-home parent. Our ethnic make-up has remained
basically the same since we opened. We serve
approximately 67% White, 18% Hispanic, 6% African
American, 2% Asian, and 7% other. Of our English
Language Learners, the majority have a first language of
Spanish. Of those, about half are at a three level or
higher for instruction. Besides ELL students, our school
also provides GATE instruction for over 100 students in
all three grades. We provide intervention assistance and
instruction for at-risk students in all three grades. We
have four RSP teachers and four SDC classes, one of
which is the districts middle school autistic class.
We have internet access from all classrooms on campus
and in our Media Center, Computer Lab, and Reading Lab.

QUALITY
OF INSTRUCTION |
TVUSD
aligns its curriculum with state standards and
provides enrichment activities at the site
level to support instruction. The District
also holds a philosophy that each school
principal should be the Instructional Leader
on that campus.
As such, principals take an active role in the
learning process at each TVUSD school,
spending much of their day in the classroom.
TVUSD teachers are evaluated and given areas
for improvement by their principals. To aide
in this endeavor, administrators are trained
in evaluation skills.
This training is designed to help
administrators evaluate their staff in a
manner that will produce better teaching in
the classroom and thus enhance student
success. Staff development days enhance this
quest for excellence by giving teachers the
tools needed to succeed in an on-going manner.
